At Evan Street Denture Clinic, we follow the following procedures for denture treatment:
Step one
A confidential medical and dental history is noted and discussed with any special needs/concerns also addressed at this stage. It’s important to assess the teeth, tissue, bone and gums before we discuss the most suitable course of treatment for your individual needs. Once a plan has been agreed on, we’ll then take preliminary impressions of your teeth and gums.
Step two
A secondary impression is taken of the mouth using the custom-made tray created from the first impression. This ensures an even distribution of material in the mouth, which will result in a more accurate fit for your dentures.
Step three
A record of the relationship between the upper and lower jaws is taken, so that we can establish an accurate picture of your tooth structure. A tooth mould/shape and colour is then selected.
Step four
The teeth are tried in the mouth using a wax base, which helps us to check that the bite is correct. It also gives you an opportunity to see the teeth in position and changes can be made if necessary.
Step five
The dentures are completed and issued to you. All aspects of your new dentures are rechecked to make sure they’re a comfortable fit and that you’re happy with them. A denture cleaning kit is also provided along with the necessary advice on how to look after them.
Step six
A check-up appointment allows for any concerns or minor adjustments to be made.

This gives a general overview of the procedure, but this may change according to individual circumstances.
