Metal cobalt chrome partial dentures

ToothadditionThese replace part of the lost tissue/gums and some teeth, and we use a high-impact acrylic as the pink base at Evan Street Denture Clinic. The base is primarily made of cobalt chrome metal, which keeps it thin and strong while the false teeth are made from either acrylic or composite resin.

Acrylic partial denture

This replaces part of the lost tissue/gums and some teeth and at Evan Street Denture Clinic, we use a high-impact acrylic as the pink base. The base design may vary according to where the missing teeth are, and the base and false teeth are sometimes strengthened with metal reinforcement. Retainers (clasps) are also an option and may be used to keep the denture stable. The false teeth are made from either acrylic or composite resin.

Flexible Partial DentureFlexible (nylon) partial dentures

These replace part of the lost tissue/gums and some teeth, and this material may be used in combination with metals, or on its own. It provides a more aesthetically pleasing appearance due to its ability to blend in, with no visible metal clasps showing.

Full Dentures

This type of denture replaces the lost tissue / gums and teeth. The dentures usually cover the palate on the upper denture and the alveolar ridge on the lower denture in order to achieve suction and stability. A high impact acrylic base is used to support the teeth. The base may also be reinforced with a mesh metal for extra strength. The fullDentureteeth may be of a high quality acrylic, composite resin or porcelain.

Denture base acrylic (pink gums) play an important role ensuring good denture retention. Natural gums have areas with different vascular supply, resulting in various shades of pink and reddish pink. For a true to life appearance these variations can be reproduced by using different color shaded acrylics.

Immediate dentures

These can be either full or partial dentures and replace teeth and lost bone following tooth extraction. They’re placed in the mouth immediately after the extraction process. Existing dentures may require alteration to allow for more teeth to be added.

Implant over denture

Often there are problems with achieving optimum retention of a denture in the mouth, particularly when eating. This may be due to poor jaw bone or tissue conditions. A removable implant restoration may provide a solution to this problem. There a number of different designs and systems available, which can be discussed at the consultation.

For example a locator anchor is a well suited option for full denture wearers. This is very easy model2for the patient to keep clean. The ability to chew is greatly enhanced, as well as the stability of the denture. The anchor has the ability to “lock” the denture in position.

Denture Teeth

The latest technology in "Denture Teeth" are known as Nano Filled Composite. This material offer a natural appearance of porcelain teeth as well as an abrasion resistance, which is far higher than conventional acrylic teeth. This counteracts premature wear of teeth. The teeth replicate natural teeth shape expressing natural contours in a 3 dimensional pattern. A special layering pattern has been developed that apply close attention to natural teeth detail, as well as increased color stability in the mouth.

Relining DenturesPartial Denture2

Relining will be required as the gums shrink over time, causing the dentures to become loose. Relining will tighten the dentures, so they fit snugly against the tissue, compensating for wear in the denture plate and changes that have occurred in the mouth.

Denture Repairs

These are usually completed on the same day of service. A cast model is made from the denture, or an impression of the mouth is taken, depending on the situation. New acrylic resin is injected to repair/replace the broken piece or to fix the tooth back in place. The repair site is also sometimes strengthened with a metal reinforcement.SportsMouthguard

Mouth-guards

These are custom-fitted to the mouth and are therefore more comfortable and provide far greater protection than the alternative chemist/shop boil-and-bite type of mouth-guards. They can be made single, double or triple-layered depending on your age, and the sport being played and are available in many colors and combinations.
